moleskineOk, thumbs off the Smartphone: time to look really smart  with today's Freebie Friday giveaway, a Moleskine notebook with the Toasted Head winery logo on the front. Never heard of Moleskine? It's a brand, but also sort of a cult. (Read more on Stuff White People Like.) These days you might find wine geeks Twittering instead of hand-writing their tasting notes, but the Moleskine is the genuine article if you want to look super creative.

Enter to win the notebook--just leave a comment on the site and tell us if you're nerdy enough to take wine notes--and how you usually do it.

Read the contest rules (short version: one entry per person, must be 21 or older and have a U.S. mailing address).

Congratulations to Gabriel of Winfield, Kansas, winner of the ChillinJoy!

Web find of the week: The Stewie grape stamping, based on the original.

I have taken wine notes. I never have a notebook to do it in but I've written on napkins and whatever has been in my purse when we've gone winetasting in Napa.

Most of my wine notes end up being mental, as far as what I like, what is too sweet, too dry, etc. Either that or I praise or complain about a bottle to a friend.

I would love to sport my super-sweet moleskine notebook at the next wine-tasting at the abode of my sommelier-to-be. She would think that I was the coolest and was finally beginning to take my tastings seriously. I would make notes about the veins on the glass, the subtle aromas, mouth feel and my husband's opinions of the earthiness of the wine.

The only nerdy wine notes I take are about the photos of wine that I shoot. This would work just fine for that.

I keep the labels - I used to keep the corks but there are harder to organize - the Moleskine would be the place to store them along with notes.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Moleskins have been my salvation through the ages, mainly because you can stick a business card or wine label (or even a spare $20 bill) in the secret back cover pocket, secure your pen on the front cover and, if you're lucky enough to tour the vineyard, can keep your pages from blowing in the wind with the elastic strap. The paper even looks good with splotches of red wine on it (remains of the day?).

I've always been a bit envious of writers with Mokeskins (rumored to be the notebook of choice for Ernest Hemingway and other literary giants) but too cheap to spring for one. I would not only use this to take wine notes, but also wine-induced poetry and bits of nonfiction that will surely become best-sellers one day. And then I'll owe everything to Vinobite, Toasted Head and Moleskin.

Well actually I am nerdy enough to take notes. At times I have been to wine tastings and I wish I had taken notes. That way I would have known what the wine tastes like for future purchases.

I keep the bottles of wine that I like! That's sort of a note, right? This way, all I have to do is look at the top of the fridge and go... oh yeah- that one was great!

Also, I make magnets for my fridge for particularly interesting labels! That way, I don't even have to look up!

This method happens to fail when ordering glasses of wine away from home, however.

I'm nerdy enough because when I'm standing there amongst the bottles, I can't remember which ones I liked or hated. When I get home with the yucky one I remember... after I opened it. Ugh. I usually write wine notes on some random piece of paper and lose it promptly. It would be nice to have them all in one place and portable.

I take wine notes at restaurants and stores when I visit, and then add them to my wine log online at a website. I keep track of wines I enjoy, and rate them on a 1 to five scale for my log. I also keep track of how many bottles of each wine I have at home in my "cellar" (it's really just a cabinet) and the website estimates prices for me and my total value of my cellar. I would LOVE a new wine notebook for my adventures...some girlfriends and I are headed to a winery this Saturday for the Harvest Festival!!! Yay!
